New Season in IntoBridge

IntoBridge has started a new season. I find myself fighting through the Queen ranges currently. There I got the the hand above.

I am not sure about the 4♠ bidding. We learned that in the old days. But what alternative do I have to explore my partners hand? Unfortunately, you still cannot replay a hand to check all the possible options in the system I play. Two other players reached the same slam, and they bid the same way. Lia just would have shown the first round control in diamonds with 6 over 5. One does not like the shortness of partner in ones stronger suit, but I still fancied a good chance for the slam.

I was the only one to make 7♠ though. After the club lead, I used two entries to the hand to ruff two hearts at the table, and finessed in trump. With the third entry, the trumps can be cleared. Then East can be squeezed, because he cannot hold both, hearts and clubs.

This next hand was just as interesting as the one above, and it too ended well for me. My free bid of 3♠ over the Bergen raise should indicate more than an opening, but not enough to go to game directly. In view of that, passing is borderline questionable. But Lia passed. The other table reached 4♠, but did not make it like most players.

I got the A as a lead, continued by a small club, where East covered the 9 with the King. In view of the bidding, I decided to get rid of two diamonds on hearts. West might have at least one more. The Q was ruffed by the Ace. That is a mistake. If instead, Lia ruffs small, I can ruff another heart crossing to the table with a club ruff. But then, East will ruff my club winner, not West.
