After reading this posting once more, I feel that I need to preface it with a clarification. This is not to show how great a player I am, because I am not. In contrary, my lonely decisions make me feel uncomfortable thinking I might be on the wrong track and just got lucky. I have too often felt humiliated by all other players who were in game where I stopped early. In retrospect, it turned out that I failed to correctly evaluate and update my hand. Online bridge is great place to learn and grow. It is that spirit that inspired me to write the following.
Even more surprising is that everybody made 3NT+1 with four simple tricks missing from the top. 6 hands ended in 3♦, two more in 5♦. My lonely decision feels awkward.
This board helped me to win the free tournament with over 80%.
Another surprising result is the 100% for 4♠+1 in the following hand.
Some might guess the trumps wrong, but not everybody as it happened. The lead was ♣4. I took the ♣Q with the ♣A, played low to the ♠Q which lost to the ♠A. Another ♣ was returned, and I finessed in trumps, making 4♠+1. Again, I have no idea why I was the only one playing it this way.
In fact, it is possible to make 4♠+2 after that lead by establishing the diamonds. But that is not a reasonable line, I think.
