Bidding ain't easy

This is an interesting hand from IntoBridge. If you look through my bidding, you will observe that I could have doubled instead of bidding the fishy 2♣. After all, I have 13 points. I tend to keep my doubles above 14 points. Lia's 2 was explained as 10-11 points with stopper missing in  or extra  values. I could have 16 points. The double by opener shows extra values and majors. 4 by Lia was explained as a slam try. I have no values for slam and thus settle at in 5♣.

The two cuebids by Lia an interesting style driving the bidding forward and requesting further information. How the idea of a slam occurred to Lia is beyond me. Maybe, the robot gave me 6 clubs for my overcall at the 2-level. Moreover, my pass after the double may have been interpreted as stronger than any bid I could have made.

5♣ can be made after the  lead without guesswork and 100% certainty. For this, I drew trumps and eliminated ♦ and ♥ before putting the ♠Q on the table. West wins with the ♠K, but has to yield the contract then. However, the contract can also be made by a simple ♠ expass to the ♠Q.

Here is another bidding which starts with 2♣ like mine.

South showed his ♥ here which did not make North happy. So, Lia stopped before game.

At the other table, my rival was in 3♣ after starting with X.

Lia did again cuebid, but stopped at 3♣, happy to keep opponents out of their major fit. Moreover, it is now no longer clear how long my clubs are.

Here is another nice version on how to end wrong.

Of course, 2 by South is against solid bidding. But it shows how a single false bid can drive Lia into dreamland. Note, that 4 by North was explained as key card Blackwood in clubs.
